Interview with Pirates Offensive Coordinator Mike Ciesielski
He is one of the most reliable Bar Bouncers in Maryland history. He once held back WWE Legend King Kong Bundy, during a scuffle at a nightclub years ago. He is one of the most helpful and friendly people, YOU will ever meet. He has a football coaching background....older than some of the players on the expansion Baltimore Pirates. And he is the Offensive Coordinator of YOUR Baltimore Pirates. His name is Michael Ciesielksi. And I recently had a chance to interview him, and ask him some questions about the upcoming season...here is what he had to say!
Tim Lumber: You were one of the best Special Team Coaches in Minor League Football History. This season you will be making the transition to Offensive Coordinator with the expansion Baltimore Pirates. Do you think it will be a tough transition for you?
Michael Ciesielski: NOT AT ALL. I HAVE A PASSION FOR COACHING AND A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE AND FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE SO THE TRANSITION INTO MY ROLE AS THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR WAS NOT DIFFICULT. I HAVE SEEN AND PLAYED ENOUGH FOOTBALL TO BE ABLE TO EASILY TAKE ON THIS CHALLENGE. THE BALTIMORE PIRATES HAVE A VERY STRONG COACHING STAFF. THERE ARE NO EGO'S PER SE, WE ARE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE AND THAT'S WHAT WE CONVEY TO OUR PLAYERS. I THINK THERE'S A GIANT POWER IN THAT.
Tim Lumber: What can we expect out of YOUR offense this season?
Michael Ciesielski: TIM, IT'S SIMPLE. IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE OFFENSE THE PLAYERS HAVE TO BE IN PLACE AND WE HAVE TO PLAY AGAINST THE COMPETITION. BEING ALL NEW AND A FIRST YEAR TEAM, I WILL KEEP THINGS SIMPLE, THAT WAY THE OFFENSE CAN EXECUTE AND PUT POINTS ON THE BOARD. MY SCHEME WILL ALLOW THE TEAM TO SUCCEED AND WITH THE HELP OF THE OTHER COACHES, WE WILL ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS.
Tim Lumber: You have a catchy new slogan for the Pirates this season. Can you tell us what it is, and is it true?
Michael Ciesielski: GET ON BOARD OR WALK THE PLANK, PIRATES TO THE TREASURE. IT IS WHAT IT IS, TIM. ARR ARR, MATE
Tim Lumber: Your family has been involved, with all the teams you coached at in the past. Will they be a part of the Pirates family this season?
Michael Ciesielski: ABSOLUTELY. FOR ME, NONE OF THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE SUPPORT OF MY FAMILY. THEY HAVE BEEN A BIG PART OF MY COACHING CAREER. MY WIFE HAS BEEN THE GATE KEEPER AS WELL AS A BACK UP MEDIC AND AQUATIC ENGINEER. OUR CHILDREN HAVE ALSO HELPED AT THE GATE, HELD THE CHAINS, CARRIED WATER AND WHATEVER ELSE THE TEAM NEEDED HELP WITH. THEY ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING TO KNOW OUR NEW BALTIMORE PIRATES FAMILY.
Tim Lumber: And last but NOT least...come opening day, what can fans expect from the Baltimore Pirates?
Michael Ciesielski: FANS CAN EXPECT TO SEE A WELL COACHED, DEDICATED GROUP OF YOUNG MEN WHO ARE READY TO KICK SOME BUTT IN THE ALLIANCE FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I AM GRATEFUL TO HEAD COACH/OWNER PAUL COUNCILL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH THIS GREAT ORGANIZATION
